The ‘School Age Classroom’, is designed specifically for students in grades K-4.

Our School-Age Classroom is designed to support children who are not returning to a traditional classroom/school day due to COVID-19.

As most schools are continuing with online learning programs in the Fall, Kids Corner recognizes that not every parent can accommodate a home school environment and will need support to continue their child’s education while they return to work.  This program is for those families.

Through the School-Aged program, Kids Corner Learning Center will provide a safe and supervised space for children to attend while parents are called back to work. Teachers will provide in-person supervised study support, one-on-one time to ensure an understanding of the work assigned by their schools. While maintaining social distancing standards recommended by the CDC, local governments and school boards, our School-Aged program helps maintain a positive learning environment, and the opportunity to socialize as they learn and work together.

How we're helping:

The daily schedule is from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm with appropriate breaks in between.  During this time children will have roughly two hours, twice a day (an AM session and PM session), of homeroom time as well as  an hour of planned group project time.

In our group time, we work on group assignments, explore science, culinary, study history, and much more while maintaining social distancing guidelines. This time allows us to offer the specialized opportunities that students need to reach their potential while doing so in a more familiar school environment.

From 9:30-11:30 am and 1:00-3:00 pm our students have supervised homework time, computer time, one on one time, and daily assignment time.

Pick up (or log off) is allowed after 3:00 pm however, we encourage pick-up at 4:00 pm so students can participate in afternoon group time.

Children should arrive on campus no later than 8:30 am. After that, students are marked tardy. Five tardies result in a fine, as it is crucial that we stay on routine and schedule as if this were a traditional school environment.

At 8:30 we will do a brief group and gather time, to go over our day and welcome one another. The kids will have a short break to use the bathroom and have a snack before we go into class time. The AM session will last from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. During this time will be any virtual meetings, online assignments, and book work required.

At 11:30 will be lunch, followed by an hour or recess/break/outside time. The kids will return to class from 1-3 pm for the PM session, where they will continue work from the AM session. Kids will have library time, as well as games and tablet time if their schoolwork is finished for the day.

From 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm is KC group time. We will take time to explore many new topics, and elaborate and learn about those through science, cooking, research, critical thinking, art and even engineering!

Our goal through this revolutionary new style of learning will focus on strengthening social skills, developing mathematical thinking (vs. just drilling numbers), building competencies in phonics and early literacy, as well on helping students acclimate to an academic classroom environment. What makes our program special is that we achieve our goals without imposing stifling control in the classroom; our teachers facilitate activities and encourage children’s creative abilities. Children are more open to new concepts when they are having fun in a supportive environment.
